Happy Birthday, Lalla Ward!
Lalla Ward of course played opposite Tom Baker’s fourth Doctor as Princess Astra in “The Armageddon Factor” and later became Romanadvoratrelundar or Romana for short. Often referred to as Romana II, (since she replaced Mary Tamm) a role she held from “Destiny Of The Daleks” up through “Warrior’s Gate”. Today is her 61st birthday.

Today (Sunday, June 17th) in addition to being Father’s Day, was Arthur Darvill’s 30th birthday. Arthur plays everyone’s favorite Roman and cheater of death, Rory Williams. (Not to mention father of River Song). Happy birthday sir!

June 8th saw a pair of Whovian Birthdays slip past, both Carole Ann Ford (72) who played the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan Foreman through the first ten story arcs, and Colin Baker (69), who of course was the sixth actor to play the doctor. We wish them both the happiest of birthdays.
Once More Unto The Schedule Revision
As discussed in this week’s podcast we’ve bumped our SHADA discussion to a later date to accommodate the North American release date of the book. As a result we’ve tweaked the upcoming schedule again…

June Events In The Vortex (Revised 5/29)
* REVISED! In order to give the Vortex Boys just a bit more time to get though all the Shada goodies, we’ve flip flopped two weeks on the upcoming schedule. City Of Death has been bumped back a week, and The Keys Of Marinus and Phantasmagoria move up one.
Once again it’s time to update you all on the joyous goodness coming your way. (Or the giggle inducing horror of it all, whichever you prefer!)
Tonight we’ll record episode #74, an Adversary Archive on The Daleks (again). Can’t help it they’ve just got so many episodes. We’ll discuss the Jon Pertwee stories “Frontier In Space” and “Planet Of The Daleks” that make up the Dalek war box set, as well as Big Finish #7 “The Genocide Machine (Dalek Empire 1)” with Sylvester McCoy.
Next week’s Friday Night Who on 6/1 is the Matt Smith story “The Eleventh Hour”.
And then, the big massive spectacular 75th epiversary is our first set of BOOK REVIEWS! Glenn will be sharing his thoughts on Crooked World featuring the eighth Doctor by Steve Lyons, Shaun reviews Only Human with the ninth Doctor by Gareth Roberts, and Keith talks about The Story Of Martha with the tenth Doctor by Dan Abnett.
June 8th’s Friday Night Who takes us back to William Hartnell’s First Doctor with “The Keys Of Marinus”.

Our show that week (#72) is an Adversary Archive on The Rani, as we cover “The Mark Of The Rani”, “Time And The Rani”, and… sigh… I suppose we’ll feel obligated to mention that “Dimensions In Time” thing… again.
FNW on 5/18 jumps back to the third Doctor Jon Pertwee with “Frontier In Space”, the first story from the “Dalek War” box as it’s billed in North America.

Hotel rooms for the 2013 Gallifrey One: The 24 Hours Of Gallifrey One just got harder to find. While organizers insist rooms not only at the Marriott but surrounding hotels are still available, the ENTIRE block of discounted rooms set aside for the Con went on sale yesterday, and sold out in an hour, despite only being available to members who preregistered for the con who were notified via email. Just goes to show the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who is going to start with a bang…

New Classic Releases Slated for July
TVShowsonDVD.com has announced that the Second Doctor story “The Krotons” and Third Doctor story “Death to the Daleks” will hit shelves in North America July 10th.
Both are expected to be 1 disc releases and priced at $24.98 SRP each.
