Special Thursday Edition Of Friday Night Who 7/18/11

UPDATED: For tonight’s special Thursday edition of #FridayNightWho, we will be starting #TheTwoDoctors at 11:30pm CDT and NOT midnight. Hope to see you then!

Once again throwing a curve ball your way by changing up our traditional #FridayNightWho to thursday this week.  The Vortex boys will be taking part in another 48 hour film festival this weekend, (This time it’s the 48hr Film Project, an international affair that will see our film compete against other for Best of Kansas City.  If we win that, we go against the winners of other cities, including Chicago, Denver, LA, New York, etc… Wish us luck!)

So, Thursday night at midnight 11:30 pm CDT join us on Twitter for tweet-a-long with the Colin Baker entry into our multi-doctor stories, #TheTwoDoctors, also starring Patrick Troughton.  Look for the hashtags and let’s ahve some fun with this iconic story!  And let’s start tweeting @SawbonesHex, @thenicolabryant, and @frazerhines (The sixth Doctor,  Peri and Jamie respectively) to see if we can get them to join us or perhaps give us a retweet!

Five Doctors For Friday Night Who 8/12/11

This is it.  This is THE BIG ONE! #FridayNightWho tonight at midnight CDT features William Hartnell, Richard Hurndall, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker AND Peter Davison in #TheFiveDoctors.  We’ll be watching the Special Edition version, so follow @vortexKeith, @vortexglenn @vortexshaun and @travelvortex for the Tweet-A-Long, and look for the hashtags!

Friday Night Who Takes A Midsummer Hiatus

Just finished recording the 25th Anniversary podcast (great episode for you, hope you enjoy!) and wanted to give everyone an update on Friday Night Who.  Due to prior commitments with the Slash And Bash Sci-Fi/Horror Film Festival the 24th and 25th of June (please visit www.slashandbash.com for details) there will NOT be a Friday Night Who from us this week.  Although feel free to follow Mark and Alex at 1pm CDT for #FridayNightWhoUK (look for the hashtag on Twitter) as they review Sylvester McCoy’s seventh Doctor in Ghostlight.

We’ll return with FridayNightWho the following week with the classic Tom Baker fourth Doctor episode Genesis Of The Daleks.

After that things are still up in the air for us, but we promise to have some sort of schedule worked out for the upcoming weeks.  Hopefully we’ll see you then!

Episode 24 – I Was Molested By a Fan Girl in Omaha

Not as long winded this week, another episode is in the can and posted to the feed.

In this one, we head back to the Tenth Doctor’s era and review The Idiot’s Lantern, The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit, and everyone’s favorite – Love and Monsters.

A long bit of insightful feedback, and Keith tells us about his trip to Contagion: Outbreak – Omaha’s Premiere Pop-Culture Expo and Convention.

Oh, and I should mention, we are much more upbeat and positive in this weeks podcast. Sorry, about last week, I don’t know what happened to our energy.

A Holiday Delay In Regularly Scheduled Programing

The gang at Radio Free Skaro are reporting that due to Memorial Day, BBC America will be delaying the broadcast of Doctor Who that weekend.  You can read their story here.

Series 6 will get a gap between episodes 5 & 6.  As partial compensation for the delay, BBC America will show a Doctor Who marathon on May 28th, featuring the entire run of Series 5 and all of Series 6 to date, including an encore presentation of The Rebel Flesh, but skipping over A Christmas Carol.

Here at Traveling The Vortex, we haven’t had a chance to react to this news, let alone figure out what this means for our current Seven Weeks for Seven Doctors line up with Friday Night WHO.  We’ll keep you posted.

The Doctor Who Diet: Only 18 Weeks To A New You

Those following along know that 20 weeks ago our friend and fellow podcaster Keith had been a virtual WHO virgin.  Well look what a steady diet of Doctor Who can do to a person: Keith wore this outfit he and girlfriend Sarah assembled to our Friday Night Who viewing of “The Dominators” a few weeks back (yes, it’s taken me this long to get the photos off my phone) and I snapped a few shots to share.  So be warned!  WHO can change your life!
