The Curse Of Scheduling The Power Of The Daleks

So once again we have been foiled by an uncertain time frame. In our desire to get Power Of The Daleks on the schedule (and Friday Night Who) as close to air date as possible, we have been stymied by BBC America and BBC Worldwide’s decision to release the six part serial WEEKLY. Which threw a major monkey-wrench into our plans. So, with much apology, I present a REVISED schedule for those of you that like following along…

Friday Night Who TONIGHT 11/25 will star David Tennant in The Doctor’s Daughter

TTV #306 will have our reviews of Big Finish The 4th Doctor Adventures S2: #4 The Justice Of Jalxar, AND the first two episodes of The Power Of The Daleks.

FNW 12/2 is Web Of Fear Parts 1-3

For Traveling The Vortex #307 we’ll discuss Power Of The Daleks episode #3, and bring you some Book Reviews with the Candy Jar shorts The Creatures in the Cave by Rick Cross, The Last Duty by Christopher Bryant, Eve of the Fomorians by Robert Mammome, and The Lost Skin: Episode 1 by Andy Frankham-Allen

FNW 12/9 is Web Of Fear Parts 4-6

TTV #308 covers Power Of The Daleks #4, and a Book Review, Lethbridge-Stewart: Times Squared by Rick Cross

Tom Baker returns to FNW on 12/16 for Revenge Of The Cybermen

Which allows us to take a look at both the 4th Doctor Mini-Series, AND Supremacy Of The Cybermen Mini-Series from Titan Comics, as well as Power Of The Daleks episode #5 in TTV #309.

Our holiday edition of FNW 12/23 is last year’s The Husbands Of River Song

and coming fresh of the airing, TTV #310 will have our thoughts on Power Of The Daleks #6, and the 2016 Christmas special The Return Of Doctor Mysterio

FNW 12/30 is Jon Pertwee in The Time Monster Parts 1-3

TTV #311 will be A Very Vortex Christmas Special. Not sure what we’re looking at yet, but Glenn is digging up some goodies!

Leading off the shiny new year is a bit of left over business from last, as we finish The Time Monster Part 4-6 for Friday Night Who on 1/6

Beyond that I’ll keep things a little closer to the vest to make sure they pan out as anticipated. But be ready for more comics, big finish and Zygons as we run up to Season 10…

Update! The Return Of Schedule Mysterio!

Hey gang, as we discussed on the podcast this week, there has been a slight shift in the programming, since Power of the Daleks wont actually release in time for Friday Night Who, this week we’ve shuffled some things around. The updated (and expanded! NOW THROUGH 2017) schedule follows, for those of you who like to follow things.

Okay, since Power isn’t going to be ready yet, we stepped up the Tom Baker episode Meglos for Friday Night Who on 11/18

Episode #305 of Traveling The Vortex is our discussion of Meglos

THEN we finally get Power on for FNW. It’s a six parter, so we’re breaking it in two. The Power of the Daleks Part 1-3 11/25

In TTV #306 we’ll take a look at the Titan Comics 4th Doctor Mini-Series, and Big Finish 4th Doctor Adventures S2: #4 The Justice Of Jalxar

FNW 12/2 finishes up the animated The Power of the Daleks Part 4-6

Get Lost in Time for episode #307 as we break down The Power of the Daleks with the Novel and Animated recon

FNW 12/9 gives us a double helping of Patrick Troughton as we go back to Web Of Fear Part 1-3

BOOK REVIEWS! TTV #308 will be a grab bag of Candy Jar shorts, ranging from Havoc files 1 up to the most current release. The Creatures in the Cave by Rick Cross, The Last Duty by Christopher Bryant, Eve of the Fomorians by Robert Mammome, and The Lost Skin: Episode 1 by Andy Frankham-Allen. We’ll also take a look at the last couple of Goodreads book club books.

FNW 12/16 finishes off Web Of Fear with Parts 4-6

TTV #309 is another Candy Jar Book Review, this time we’re looking at Lethbridge-Stewart: Times Squared by Rick Cross

Christmas Time is here again! What better way to gear up than with Capaldi’s last Christmas offering, The Husbands Of River Song for Friday Night Who on 12/23.

Post Christmas cuddles happen in TTV #310 with our review of The Return Of Doctor Mysterio!

New Years hits us with some more Pertwee action, as we hit up The Time Monster Parts 1-3

TTV #311 sees us go back to Titan Comics for 12th Doctor #2.1 – #2.5, and Big Finish 4th Doctor Adventures: S2 #5 Phantoms Of The Deep

2017

FNW 1/6 finishes The Time Monster Part 4-6

Just in time for TTV #312, a Book Review on Candy Jar’s Lethbridge-Stewart: The Blood Of Atlantis by Simon A Forward and accompanying short.

Sylv returns to Friday Night Who on 1/13 in Dragonfire

and another comic/audio paring in Traveling The Vortex #313 with Titan Comics 12th Doctor #2.6 – #2.10 and Big Finish #74 LIVE 34

Obviously, take these with a grain of salt since they can (and have) changed at a moments notice, but we’ll try and keep you informed. Thanks as always for continuing to hang out with us week after week, we’ll see you in the vortex!

Color Version! And Where To Watch Power Of The Daleks

DoctorWho.tv have a breakdown reporting on all the ways and wheres to watch who. Specifically, the newly animated Power Of The Daleks. You can find the full details here, but for those of us in the US, the breakdown looks like this:

MONDAY, NOV 14, 2016 – Select theaters nationwide, one night only. Visit www.fathomevents.com for more info.

SATURDAY, NOV 19, 2016 – Airing weekly on BBC America.

End of November – BBC America will make the COLOR version available exclusively on their digital platforms.

TUESDAY, JAN 24, 2017 – DVD releases as a Barnes & Noble exclusive, including the COLOR version.

The UK is also getting a special edition Bluray.

Now as a purist, I want black and white Doctor Who episodes to be black and white. BUT I also think this is a golden opportunity to do something cool and unique. Since these episodes are being recreated via animation, I have no issues with a color version being made available as well as the black and white. Personally, I think this episode looks gorgeous, and cant wait to see it in full!
