In this week’s podcast we examine two stories. First we look at episodes 1 and 2 of the newly released The Power of the Daleks (animated). We give our impressions of the story and what we think of the treatment so far.
And then, on to Big Finish The 4th Doctor Adventures S2: #4 The Justice Of Jalxar, We pick up where we left off in the adventures featuring the Fourth Doctor and Romana. Hear what we thought of this one.
Rah, rah, rah! We check in this week with a long one, but a good one. This time we look at another Doctor Who story that has been lost in time, with our attention on The Macra Terror. We examine both the Loose Canon reconstruction of the Patrick Troughton, Second Doctor Story and the novelization written by screenwriter, Ian Stuart Black.
Also, rumor news involving a leaked animation clip that appeared online and then disappeared shortly after, some convention announcements, and a new limited edition book from our friends over at Candy Jar Books.
And, of course your feedback.
Enjoy!
UPDATE: We misspoke on this week’s show. The Havoc Files 2 is not included in the 30% discount with the special EPICLS30 code. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This from Candy Jar:
To clear up a bit of confusion: The HAVOC Files 2 is *not* included in the 30% offer. All other LS titles are, tho. https://t.co/Gu5bVOtMOj
In this week’s podcast, we travel back to the Second Doctor era to explore the depths of ocean and the Lost City of Atlantis. We examine the recently released Doctor Who story, The Underwater Menace, with the Doctor and companions Jamie, Ben and Polly. We’ll give our impressions of the DVD treatment as well as it’s reconstruction of the missing first and fourth episodes along with the newly discovered second episode and the, at one time, only surviving episode 3. Wow, was that as confusing as it seemed? Oh, well.
Also, some news of the week, including Doctor Who Magazine’s 500th issue and details coming out in the publication.
We Americans have been waiting months for this week’s Friday Night Who. Now that “The Underwater Menace” has been released today that’s what we’re watching this week!
Ian Potter and Wendy Padbury at the recording of The British Invasion
Blogtorwho.com is reporting that Big Finish has announced that Wendy Padbury will reprise her role as Zoe Heriot for two upcoming releases. Padbury originally starred alongside Patrick Troughton’s Doctor between 1968 and 1969, and has returned as Zoe on audio a number of times since 2007.
Padbury has recently recorded one of Big Finish’s monthly Short Trips Doctor Who stories – The British Invasion by Ian Potter.
These half-hour adventures are only available via download from the Big Finish website for £2.99 each.
The British Invasion is described as follows:
A huge metal dome sits by the side of the river Thames. Within it is a device that might change the entire future of humanity. The Doctor, Zoe and Jamie embark on a small act of kindness but the TARDIS seems oddly unwilling to help. It’s as if it knows the truth. There is something waiting here, something adaptable and cunning, gathering its strength to conquer the stars…
Since we are in Wichita for Time Eddy this week where Deborah Watling & Frazer Hines will be guests, so appropriately Friday Night Who this week is Tomb of the Cybermen!
