Friday Night Whoers might be on your own this week…as we prepare for Kansas City’s Planet Comicon featuring the one and only Sylvester McCoy!

So for Friday Night Who this week we are watching what is considered to be his seminal story on the show (no…not Ghostlight like Keith wanted) but Remembrance of the Daleks!

@VortexGlenn, @VortexShaun & @VortexKeith aren’t sure if they will make it, but hop on twitter in their stead at Midnight CDT for the tweet along!

As always don’t forget the hashtags! #FridayNightWho #RemembranceoftheDaleks

It’s Spring Time For Schedule

This week is Planet Comicon… so the “schedule” may be a bit wobbly wobbly. BUT, we plan on doing “Remembrance Of The Daleks” on 3/14 with Sylvester McCoy. (keep in mind we may not actually get to participate much due to our con responsibilities.)

Our show this week #168 will be all about our experiences at KC Planet Comicon 2014.

On 3/21 FNW is  Jon Pertwee in the first 3 parts of “The Mutants”.

TTV #169 is what we’re jokingly calling “The Fan Show 2”.  Expect some more interviews and some surprises…

FNW on 3/28 we finish “The Mutants” Part 4-6.

We have our third Doctor celebration in episode #170 as we discuss “The Mutants” and E Book 3: “The Spear Of Destiny”.

We go all the way back to William Hartnell for FNW on 4/4 in “The War Machines”.

TTV #171 contains our reviews of “The War Machines” and Big Finish #80 “Time Works”.

For April’s fourth Doctor celebration, Friday Night Who on 4/11 is “Image Of The Fendahl”.

and then for the show TTV #172 “Image Of The Fendahl” and E Book 4: “The Roots Of Evil”.

On 4/18 David Tennant makes a return appearance to FNW in Series 3s “Tooth And Claw”.

We side step out of the Whoniverse a bit in episode #173 by covering the first 5 episodes of “Torchwood: Miracle Day”.

4/25 brings us the first three parts of the recently released Patrick Troughton serial “The Web Of Fear” on Friday Night Who.

Our show that week (TTV #174) wraps up Miracle Day with “Torchwood: Miracle Day” Parts 6-10.

And then we finish “The Web Of Fear” with Parts 4-6 on 5/2 for Friday Night Who.

And on the horizon? I’m sorry, it’s the event horizon of a black hole, and the schedule was sucked

into it just

now.

Schedule, Beware The Ides Of March!

A short scheduling update this week, as we wanted to give you heads up on a couple of audios coming up!

This week’s Friday Night Who (2/28) is the long awaited, recently released Patrick Troughton second Doctor story “The Moonbase”

Our show (TTV #166) will include reviews of “The Moonbase” as well as the second E Book from the 50th Anniversary series, “The Nameless City”.

FNW on 3/7 is Planet Of The Ood with tenth Doctor, David Tennant.

A pair of big finish audios for TTV #167, both main line stories: #37 The Sandman featuring sixth Doctor Colin Baker and Evelyn, and #39 Bang-Bang-a-Boom with seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy.

We’re concocting something special for Friday Night Who the week of 3/14 (In fact, it may not even happen on Friday).  Suffice to say we are attempting to involve Kansas City Planet Comicon guest Sylvester McCoy to join us in some way, shape or form.  We’ll try and keep you updated as best we can. Right now it looks like it will either be “Remembrance Of The Daleks” OR “The Happiness Patrol” for the story that week.  Trust us, there’s a method at work here.  Madness too.  But a method nonetheless.

And episode #168 will be a full breakdown of our experiences at Kansas City Planet Comicon for our listeners.

More to come as we get things finalized!

Summer Scheduling

Finalizing the schedule for this next chunk still took some doing, so without further ado…

Friday Night Who on 5/17 features Sylvester McCoy in “Remembrance Of The Daleks”.

With the release of STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS this week, Shaun gives us another side trip into that universe, “Star Trek 102 – The Movies”.

Then on episode #125 of Traveling The Vortex we’ll discuss IDW Comic’s Star Trek/Doctor Who cross over “Assimilation 2”, and the final episode of series 7, “The Name Of The Doctor”.

FNW on 5/24 is “Robot” with Tom Baker.

TTV #126 is all fourth Doctor, as we discuss BBC America’s Doctor Who Revisited 4, Big Finish and Audio Go’s “Destiny Of The Doctor 4”, and have our 50th Anniversary Discussion covering the fourth Doctor Era.

On 5/31, FNW will feature Christopher Eccleston in “The End Of The World”.

We return to the divergent universe with Paul McGann for TTV #127, discussing Big Finish main line episodes #61 “Faith Stealer” and #62 “The Last”.

FNW 6/7 is Peri’s origin as told in “Planet Of Fire” with Peter Davison.

Traveling The Vortex #128 has our reviews of “Planet Of Fire” and Big Finish #24, “The Eye Of The Scorpion”.

Release on DVD here in North America on June 11 is “Inferno” with Jon Pertwee, so we’ll cover it for Friday Night Who on 6/14. (At least the first four parts, anyway.)

Our show that week (TTV #129) will be a fifth Doctor discussion, covering IDWs “Prisoners Of Time 5”, Doctor Who Revisited 5 and Big Finish/Audio Go’s “Destiny Of The Doctor 5”.

We conclude “Inferno” parts 5-7 for FNW on 6/21.

and episode #130 covers “Inferno” and wraps up our 5th Doctor celebration with our  50th Anniversary Discussion of his era.

Episode 50 – Reservation of the Daleks

Here we are, fifty episodes in and still going strong. In this show a look back over the last 49.

Plus, our third Adversary Archive featuring the Daleks (second one to feature Davros). This week we review Resurrection of the Daleks with the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Turlough, the Sixth Doctor and Peri in Revelation of the Daleks, and The Seventh Doctor and Ace story, Remembrance of the Daleks.

Also, our reaction to an incredible news week for Doctor Who fandom, topped off with the announcement of the recovery of two previously missing episodes.

And of course, your feedback.

Here’s to fifty more! Enjoy!

Friday Night Who 12/9/11

Tonight’s #FridayNightWho stars seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as Ace.  Lots of history in this one referencing the first Doctor era, as two competing Dalek factions hunt for a Time Lord artifact on Earth!

We push play on #RemembranceOfTheDaleks at Midnight, CST. Join @vortexkeith, @vortexglenn, @vortexshaun and @travelvortex on Twitter for the live conversation!
