We return for our first podcast of 2016 with a review of the Ninth Doctor mini-series by the good folks over at Titan Comics. We give our impressions on the five issue story arc by writer Cavan Scott and artist Blair Shedd.
Then Davros returns in Big Finish audio play number 65 in the monthly range with the Sixth Doctor and Mel story, The Juggernauts. We’ll share our review of that story as well.
Plus we tackle more news-of-the-week.
And, of course… oh…none again this week? Never mind.
**UPDATE** Apologies go out to Time Lord Ben. We accidentally omitted his feedback that should have followed his tip of the week. That has been corrected and the file reposted.
In this week’s show we flip last week’s topic on its ear and discuss the question: Is Davros better of without the Daleks?
We try to answer that by exploring what we know of the creator of the Daleks.
But leading into that discussion, we review the Big Finish Productions story, Davros, produced during the 40th anniversary year of Doctor Who. We’ll give our impression of that story.
And, per usual, we’ll discuss some news of the week, but not before we provide our reviews of the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the recently released, Avengers: Age of Ultron. We should warn you however, we get into some HEAVY SPOILERS about the film. So, if you have yet to see it, you may want to skip ahead in the podcast to about the 41 or 42 minute mark.
Plus, another Doctor Who: Legacy – Tip of the Week.
In this week’s show straight off the heals of a re-watch of the classic story, Genesis of the Daleks, we discuss everybody’s favorite megalomaniac, Davros and determine if the Daleks are better without their ruthless creator. We’ll explore the Dalek history and determine if Davros has been helpful to their cause or a hindrance.
Also, some news out this week in the Whoniverse.
Plus another Doctor Who: Legacy – Tip of the Week.
Friday Night Who continues along with Series 8, and since the second episode of the season is called “Into The Dalek” we figured it would be fitting to do a Dalek story this week, and since we recently did “Resurrection of the Daleks” it makes sense to do Colin’s installment “Revelation of the Daleks” series.
Here we are, fifty episodes in and still going strong. In this show a look back over the last 49.
Plus, our third Adversary Archive featuring the Daleks (second one to feature Davros). This week we review Resurrection of the Daleks with the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Turlough, the Sixth Doctor and Peri in Revelation of the Daleks, and The Seventh Doctor and Ace story, Remembrance of the Daleks.
Also, our reaction to an incredible news week for Doctor Who fandom, topped off with the announcement of the recovery of two previously missing episodes.
